WEEK 3: MAQASID SYARIAH AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
Hi guys! This week, we learned about Maqasid Syariah and Sustainable Development. As we already discussed about the definition and concept of Sustainable Development, today we will discuss about Maqasid Syariah and the connection between it. Maqasid Shariah refers to the objectives or goals of Islamic law (Syariah al-Islamiyah) which is realizing the human well-being by enhancing welfare, or benefit (Maslahah) of the people on one hand and preventing harm (Mafsadah) on the other. In order to protect well-being of humans and nature, there are five core objectives of Maqasid Shariah: 1. Hifz al-Deen (Protection of Faith) Aim to safeguarding religion and allowing individuals to practice their faith freely. This objective includes creating an environment that respects religious beliefs and supports moral and spiritual growth.
