Assalamualaikum guys
This week we have learned about International Framework of Sustainable Development. Its provides a structured approach to address global challenges through shared principles, goals, and collaborative efforts. It also emphasizes the integration of social, economic, and environmental dimensions of development to ensure sustainability for current and future generations. Central to this framework is the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which includes the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that guide nations toward eradicating poverty, protecting the planet, and ensuring prosperity for all. Key agreements such as the Paris Agreement on Climate Change emphasize reducing greenhouse gas emissions and limiting global temperature rise. Additionally, frameworks like the Addis Ababa Action Agenda focus on financing sustainable development, while conventions such as the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) address the protection of biodiversity and ecosystems. These frameworks promote global cooperation, encourage resource mobilization, and emphasize the importance of partnerships between governments, businesses, and civil society. By aligning national policies and international commitments, these frameworks serve as a roadmap for balancing economic growth with environmental conservation and social equity.

The image illustrates the transition from the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
MDGs (2000–2015):
- Focused on 8 goals, 21 targets, and 60 indicators.
- Goals included eradicating poverty and hunger, achieving universal primary education, promoting gender equality, reducing child mortality, and ensuring environmental sustainability.
SDGs (2016–2030):
- Expanded to 17 goals, 169 targets, and 304 indicators.
- Covers a broader scope, including issues like climate action, sustainable cities, clean water and sanitation, responsible consumption, and innovation.
This transition reflects the global shift towards a more comprehensive and inclusive framework, addressing social, economic, and environmental dimensions for sustainable development.
We also learned the definition and concept of Sejahtera. The concept of Sejahtera is often integrated into sustainable development frameworks in Malaysia, emphasizing the importance of balancing progress with the preservation of cultural and environmental heritage. It is closely in line with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which promote inclusive, equitable, and sustainable growth that respects both human and environmental integrity. Sejahtera promotes a holistic approach to sustainability by advocating for economic progress, social well-being, and environmental stewardship in tandem. In essence, it is a way of living that promotes a meaningful and balanced existence for individuals, communities, and the world, rather than a philosophy.
